SC625 Systems Theory (Autumn 2017-18)
Instructor name: Prof. Ravi Banavar
Course Type: Honours / Elective
Pre-requisites: Linear Algebra (Informal, most of the stuff required is taught anyway, but MA106 certainly helps)
Course Content: Vector Spaces, Matrices, Determinants, Basic Concepts of Linear Systems, Controllability, Observability
Lecture: There was no attendance policy, but there used to be surprise quizzes. Prof. Banavar used the blackboard and his explanations were pretty comprehensive and easy to understand.
Assignments: There were regular graded assignments, and doing them religiously helped me get a grip over the course and do well in the surprise quizzes.
Exams and Grading: 5 quizzes (best 4 were taken into consideration while grading), No Midsems and Endsems
Pro-Tips: Do NOT miss classes. You can be done with the theory if you listen properly in classes. Then you'll have to just spend time doing the assignments.
Do the assignments religiously. They help in quizzes apart from giving you free marks!
Personal Comments: Relatively easy course for EP people considering the amount of linear algebra we've done and are doing!
Respondent: Shobhna Misra
Note: This is a review to help you make a more informed choice about how to study for this course and/or choosing this course. While we've tried to keep it objective and complete, one must keep in mind that students have varying interests, methods of study, and the course itself changes from year to year.
