Summer Intern Experience 2018 -  Kartik Patekar Yale University Process of securing the intern  I apped to the professor personally since I have worked in the field during the last Winter. The professor agreed after asking for a Letter of Recommendation.  What were you working on? I worked on theoretical aspects of superconducting circuits, which is one of the possible physical realisations of Quantum computer. Workload and tools used Workload was average and I worked about 6-7 hours a day on weekdays. I used theory of Harmonic Oscillator, perturbation theory. Instructor Name Avinash Mahajan, Pragya Das Prerequisites NA Important Topics Covered Experiments in solid state physics involving measurement of electron spin resonance, nuclear magnetic spin resonance and theoretical concepts behind these phenomenon, measurement of temperature dependence of semiconductor and band gap, dielectric constant of materials, and Hall effect. Experiments in nuclear physics involving measurement of absorption coefficient of Gamma rays, gamma ray energies using scintillation spectrometer, Compton scattering, angular correlation of gamma ray photons released in electron positron annihilation, working of Geiger counter.
